Our straws are made by hand in our shop here in Georgia. We make them from Ultra High Purity 316 Stainless Steel. 316 stainless steel is more corrosion resistant than 304 stainless steel. Our straws are tough enough to be used anywhere you go. Use them as you float around in the ocean or pool without fear of them corroding or pitting. From lemonade or soft drinks to a salty mocktail, these are great for whatever your choice of beverage might be.
Will a stainless steel straw give my drink a metallic taste? – While some stainless steel straws and drinkware will cause a metallic taste, ours do not. We put our straws through a process which removes iron from the surface of the inside and outside of the straws. This keeps your drinks from having a metallic taste while using our straws. We have been testing these straws on a daily basis for over 2 years. We have used them with water, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and fruit drinks. We regularly clean these straws and we have not been able to detect any metallic taste.
Why pay more for ultra high purity 316 stainless steel? Isn’t food grade 304 stainless steel good enough? – While food grade 304 stainless steel is probably good enough, we are not ok with “good enough.” We believe in exceeding the standard. The material we use to make our straws begins in a steel mill in the equivalent of a clean room. We continue to be that meticulous throughout the manufacturing process. The material our straws are made from are tested and certified for purity. There is no need to worry about unwanted contaminates in our straws.
